What do I get with my add-on purchase?
That depends on the package(s) you choose. All of our X-15 add-on packages include unique liveries, movable aerodynamic control surfaces, realistic special effects, accurate panels with custom gauges, 100 page flight manual and much more.
Visit our X-15 products page for more details.
How realistic is my X-15 add-on?
We have designed a series of add-on aircraft and panels that look as realistic as possible and allow flight simulation enthusiasts and X-15 fans not only to fly at high altitudes and at several times the speed of sound but also to simulate most aspects of a typical X-15 mission, including almost every procedure required to operate this remarkable and unique aircraft.
Visit our real-world aircraft/virtual aircraft comparison page.

Does my X-15 add-on come with a virtual cockpit (VC)?
The X-15-1 addon package (version 1.1) is now available with four fully functional 3D virtual cockpits (see details). Version 1.1 of the X-15-2&3 and X-15A-2 packages are currently into their final stage of development and will be available in the second quarter of 2008. When released, a free upgrade will be available online for registered users (please see this news release).
What's the maximum speed of my X-15 add-on?
The maximum speed of our X-15 addons is limited by the FS2004 and FSX environments to approximately Mach 4.65.
Why can't I reach the maximum speed of Mach 4.65?
Some users have reported speed and altitude issues with FSX with Acceleration Pack. We are currently working on this issue to isolate and correct it. We have experienced no such issues with FSX and FSX SP2.
When I load a flight, the X-15 appears all white or transparent, how can I fix this?
Sometimes, on a relatively slow system, the aircraft might appear white when the game starts and before all the textures are loaded. We have seen it occasionally when the user changes views. But after one second or two, the aircraft should appear normal.
We have also seen that the aircraft AND the background in the Virtual Cockpit and spot plane views (and in the previewing area in the "Create a Flight" page) appear totally white in FSX. This can be corrected by un-selecting the option "Light Bloom" in the Display Parameters page.
DirectX 10 users may also experience aircraft texture problems. We are currently working on this issue to isolate and correct it. We have experienced no such issue with DirectX 9.
How do I install the add-on I've purchased?
You will receive your order in the form of a "exe" file. Double click the "install.exe" file and follow the on-screen instructions to install your add-on.
Where do I get my product "activation key"?
After running the setup file, you will be asked to input your activation key. This key would have been sent to you by email following your purchase. Entering the activation key will allow you to install the add-on.
I've installed MS Flight Simulator in a custom folder, will the installer detect it?
Normally yes. If not, you can specify the correct folder during the installation process.
Are these add-ons compatible with Windows Vista?
Yes! All of our add-ons are compatible with Windows Vista/XP/2000.
Is the X-15 series compatible with Flight Simulator X?
Yes! The current version is optimized for FS2004 and compatible with FSX.
Can I re-download my order if I lose the original file?
Yes, you can download again by logging on to our ecommerce website. Once you are logged in, select "Review previous orders", click on your order number, and click "download". You may download this file a total of 3 times. After that, you would need to contact us if you need the file again within 1 year of your original purchase.
How do I take off and fly my add-on?
All the necessary information to take off and fly the X-15 is in the manual you received when you purchased your add-on. There are three sets of instructions. Firstly, a detailed set, which details virtually all procedures involved in a real-world x-15 flight - perfect for X-15 enthusiasts. Secondly, there is a condensed version, for those who want to get up in the air more quickly. Finally, there are "quick start" instructions in the appendix, for those who want to take off and fly right away.
I just loaded a mission and I see special effects like engine flames and APU exhaust steam, but I haven't done anything yet. How do I turn these effects off?
Press the "L" key (All Lights On/Off command) on your keyboard as necessary, until the effects disappear.
Why is my X-15 addon moving on the runway when I load a flight?
By default, FS2004 and FSX load previously saved (or default) flights with the engine(s) of the aircraft running. In the case of the X-15 it takes a split second for Flight Simulator to "realize" that the X-15 has not been serviced with the necessary propellants, and then the engines are shut down. Because of the power of the rocket engine(s), the initial split second of thrust is enough to move the aircraft along the runway. The aircraft should come to a halt on its own or the brakes can be applied. To avoid this, load a FS default flight (with one of the default aircraft) and turn off the engine(s). Replace the aircraft with the X-15 and go to Edwards Air Force Base (or any other airfield of your choice) as described in the manual and save this flight under a different name. Simply load this saved flight (or make it your default flight) each time you want to fly the X-15.
